i am a female.
i have a female body.
i have female nipples.
when i was 5 my brother was in cub scouts. they were all around my age. it was summer. they all ran around outside shirtless. i was hot. i took my shirt off and ran with them. my mother pulled me aside immediately and reprimanded me. she said it’s okay if they do it, they’re boys. but i’m a little girl and little girls need to be modest. i asked why. she said thats just how it is.
when i was 13 i was in glee club. we ordered dresses as our uniform. they had v-necklines. i was bustier than the other girls. the dean of students made me safety pin together my neckline. she said mine, in particular, was too revealing, even though it was the same dress the others had. she said it would be too distracting to male audience members.
when i was 16 i was an angel for halloween. my costume was a halter top, but had some mesh from the neck to about where my cleavage started. my gym teacher said it was inappropriate. my grandma called me a whore and said i was making myself appear easy. my boyfriend said they wouldn’t say anything if my breasts were smaller. i brought that up to my grandma and she said yes because they wouldn’t be showing as much.
no one said to get rid of nsfw posts, or delete “female presenting nipples”. we asked to make tumblr a safe and positive environment. there are still nazis. there are still porn bots. keep nsfw blogs with owners who are 18+ active.
girls bodies are sexualized their whole lives. bodies are art. they’re something you live with. if you hide it, you’re a prude or a tease. if you dont hide it, you’re a whore or you’re asking for it.
this isnt a safe environment when you are actively telling women that they should be ashamed of their bodies.
focus on whats important.
